Copy editing & Proofreading

Saturday, 17 May 2008, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm

This workshop has been developed for editors who want to gain or refresh copy editing and proofreading skills in a supportive group environment. As a participant you will benefit by:

  • further developing your editorial judgement
  • learning or practising standard editing and proofreading mark-up symbols
  • developing confidence in your existing skills
  • discovering which areas need further development
  • appreciating the variety of good solutions which may be applicable in editing
  • networking — actually getting to know your peers’ work.

Our presenter, Helena Bond, has been editing since 1990 and is a popular trainer for both the Society of Editors and the Queensland Writers Centre.

Closing date for registration is Saturday, 9 May 2008. Download the course registration form

Training

To meet the needs of the rapidly changing profession of editing, the Society provides its members with regular, industry-current workshops, lectures and seminars. Topics range from editing and production for multimedia to the traditional grammar and proofreading, and encompass diverse genres, including non-fiction, corporate and fiction.

Our experienced presenters, chosen because of their particular expertise, are editors and people who work closely with editors.

The Society welcomes feedback from members and other interested parties about current, past and potential future workshops. Please direct all enquiries to our training coordinators: Annette Dunlop and Jennifer Beale.

Have your say on training!

We need input from SocEdsQ members. In what areas would you like training? What questions would you like answered?

Send us your ideas, preferably brief, preferably in point form, by email or post to:
