Upcoming meetings 2012

Plan ahead so you don't miss out on the these great upcoming general meetings.

February 1 2012

Our monthly meetings start up again on Wednesday 1 February, 6:00pm for 6:30pm.

Memory is the edit: Life among the words is the intriguing and cryptic topic.

So what’s the big deal? Come to our monthly meeting and for just $10, you get …

- drinks and delicious nibbles on arrival (non-alcoholic drinks and vego/celiac fare also provided)
- the opportunity to get together with your peers and talk shop, get leads and hear goss — and stay on for dinner at a nearby restaurant
- a pleasant, quiet, comfortable conference venue that offers wheelchair access and free, hassle-free parking
- best of all, the opportunity to learn something new about different areas of your chosen craft/profession of editing, from stimulating, knowledgeable, hand-picked speakers.

Our Enertaining Speaker
At our February meeting, we’ll hear from a speaker who might be called a Renaissance man: Ross Clark. Last millennium, Ross was a state secondary teacher of English and social sciences, but now combines part-time university teaching with poeting and other work.

He has published and performed much poetry in Australia and overseas. His Salt Flung into the Sky was published mid-2007, and Ross has been awarded a Johnno, a Centenary of Federation Medal, and the Australian Book Review Poetry Prize.

He has also edited poetry and fiction for several Australian journals, and for University of Queensland Press.

His creative focus in the past few years has been on song-writing and performing, occasionally solo with guitar, preferably with a band or one of his duos (including Daylight Moon, his partnership with Helena Bond, and the uke band BUMS).

Easy new meeting venue
Our new meeting venue is Unit 2/63 Annerley Road, Woolloongabba. The entrance is from Crown Street. The best parking is in Annerley Road inbound side between Gloucester and Crown Streets.

Our new meeting arrangements mean we self-cater the drinks and nibbles. Tell us whether or not you’re coming … PLEASE … so we get the catering right.

We do hope you’ll plan to join us.

Venue: Offices of Councillor Helen Abrahams, Unit 2/63 Annerley Road, Woolloongabba
Time: 6.00 pm for 6.30pm on Wednesday 1 February
RSVP: Email your acceptance to the Speaker Secretary Josephine Brown
